Sambhar Masala, 100g


Get the yummy taste of this popular Sambhar recipe from the South of India with Chounk Sambhar Masala. Even though the style of Sambharpreparation may vary from region to region, this spice blend from Chounk is ideal for all. Packed with the nutritional benefits of Tuar Dal and Chana Dal, Chounk Sambhar Masala is a healthy yet delicious ingredient for your South Indian curry preparations.




Wash and soak 100 gms Tuhar dal for 15 minutes and then give one whistle in the pressure cooker.

In another vessel, take 1 cup tamarind juice, 1 cup chopped vegetables, salt to taste and 5 tsp Chounk Sambhar Masala. Give this one boil and add the dal and give another boil.

In a pan add 1 tbsp oil, ½ tsp mustard seeds, 10 curry leaves, and 1 finely chopped onion. Sauté till the onions turn light pink, then add 2 finely ground tomatoes and 2 tbsp finely ground coconut. Sauté till the oil oozes out then add the mixture to the dal. Boil for 5-10 minutes.

Serves 2-3 people.
